Please Note: This blog is only and only for myself. In case you accidentally stumbled to this blog, or I in my weakest mind decide to publish this blog, do not take it seriously. At the moment I would like to pen down my thoughts without having to worry about the grammatical, spelling errors, sentence structure, literary intellectual people would pick.
The purpose of my blogs are to inspire myself to do something worthy. On a lighter note, can be used as a document to refresh back my memory in case of an attack of amnesia( off late having dreams of awaking with my memory blank).
After a long introductory let me come to the subject of my blog. After being a mother of one & having gone through a tough delivery, thought the second one would be a cakewalk. But, who knows His plans. AA came into this world following her sisters route, the wrong way(rupturing my uterus) Finally with the baby's heart rate dropping, was taken to an emergency where she was delivered at the nick of time. Had it been a little more delayed...humph...
I must be happy that with each delivery, I not only receive special treatment at the ICU but end up reducing the organ counts.
Now, at 4 months Anu, is a joy to watch. The way she has discovered her fingers, playing with it, starting to talk serious gaga aggga, with so much expressions to it. All this from a baby who was deemed by the medical fraternity in Am...To live for a week, or with a severe impairment...
Fingers still crossed as to how she will develop in future, but as of now, she is accomplishing all mile stones. Now, wanted to highlight the height of medical ignorance in this part of the world.
1. As the contractions were on and off every 10 mts, and dilation was in the limit for the natural delivery to start, yet the drs waited. And then, the unfortunate, baby tried to come out on her own, by rupturing the uterus wall. The heart rate strts dropping quickly, at this point I was rushed to emergency for a C-Section.
2. Soon as she was born( reason was the dr failed to notice the dropping heart rate, his decision to wait for a normal delivery even after the requisite cms had been dilated) the chief dr visited us to inform that AA is born to live only for a few days & if she continues to live will have serious impairment(bluntly).
3. Post my uterus operation, I looked fully bloated, With a pre pregnancy tummy. Then it dawned to them that I was not to be allowed anything to drink or eat. Mind here I am not talking about some local midwives,I am referring about a team of medically knowledgeable, certifiable doctors. Hate those word these days...
Next the audacity of them to state that they misread the reports and she is perfectly fine, after about a week. I just wanted to clutch on to my baby and run away from these people as far as I could.
After having spent 20 days in NICU, thankfully with not much of melodrama. Just now and then there attempts to still impose a negative outlook by telling " your baby isn't normal, I hope you know that" " you are a brave mama"( was that to ridicule, or a genuine comment). Having seen the general mentality I would go with the former.
We successfully brought our little darling home. Now for the first time I felt that she is safe. Thanking god each minute for the miracle which has left them dumbfounded.
Next brush that we had was we were assigned a locopedist for assisting aa on breast feeding, as she wasn't feeding from the breast. We were tubefeeding her. Locopedist visits us with no use and she charges a full fee even if she had to see a sleeping baby.
Now enter our home doctor. "Locopedist is a speech therapist, what is she doing at your home? You need to be consulting a lactation consultant" . That's it, she crushed all our little hopes that we had on the hospital trying to assist us.
Next went to a lactation consultant which we googled and got a reference. She had one look at the baby's mouth and states that her tongue is tied & that we have to do minor surgery.
Having gone through all this, we were quite skeptical of her findings.
Miracle 2: that evening aa starts to nurse( I everyday used to make an attempt to breast feed with a hope that she would feed on it one day). This was after 2 whole months.
With one of our visit to the home doctor we suggested her to conduct a blood test, as I had hyper thyroid and under medication. She gives a big lecture on how costly the blood tests( are usually covered in insurance) are, and how it is unnecessary to check your body every now and then. Finally she gives up, orders a blood test. Lo behold my thyroid levels are abnormal.
My daughter had some rashes for which my GP had prescribed some creams, for a re order the GPs.clinic will contact the pharmacy for refill. On one such occasion the GP had prescribed the wrong cream(spelling error). Fortunately, (though every single word is in the native language) we compared with the previous cream and found that she had the wrong one ordered for us.
